A beach workout usually ends with water, a towel and maybe a recovery drink. Sentosa’s newest fitness circuit ends with ice cream.
The Magnum Ice Cream Company is turning Palawan Beach into “HIIT THE BEACH”, a free eight-zone playground that swaps conventional high-intensity interval training for “High intensity ice cream training”. The experience runs from 24 October 2026 to 31 January 2027 and brings Magnum, Ben & Jerry’s, Wall’s, Cornetto and Calippo into the same physical challenge course.
That mix is what makes the campaign interesting. Ice cream is normally marketed as reward, comfort or indulgence. Here, TMICC is making the reward part of the workout itself, using movement, play and beach culture to give five brands a shared physical world.

Why the workout joke works
The central idea is easy to understand before anyone reaches the beach.
HIIT normally signals discipline, repetition and effort. “High intensity ice cream training” flips that expectation without losing the structure of an actual circuit. Participants still move through challenges that test speed, agility and strength. The difference is that the equipment, names and payoff are built around ice cream.
That gives the campaign a built-in social quality. Someone does not need a long explanation to understand why a Magnum-branded sled pull or ice cream-inspired weight press is funny. The joke is visible in the activity itself.
The circuit ends at “Cooldown Isle”, where visitors can sit under parasols, take photos with larger-than-life installations, buy co-branded merchandise and pick up ice cream. Vending machines around Sentosa extend the brand presence beyond Palawan Beach.
Ellen Yap, country lead at The Magnum Ice Cream Company, described the idea as a natural extension of Sentosa’s “spirit of fun, adventure and active play.”
That line matters because the campaign is not asking people to choose between exercise and indulgence. It turns the contrast into the entertainment.
How five ice cream brands become one experience
The eight-zone circuit also solves a portfolio problem.
TMICC owns brands with different personalities, products and audiences. A conventional campaign might need separate creative work for Magnum, Ben & Jerry’s, Wall’s, Cornetto and Calippo. HIIT THE BEACH gives all five brands a single organizing idea while letting individual zones carry different product cues.
That makes the beach experience behave like a shared brand universe rather than a collection of booths.
For visitors, the experience unfolds as one route. For TMICC, each stop becomes a different expression of the portfolio. The format creates room for distinct visual identities without making the overall experience feel disconnected.
The strongest experiential campaigns often do this well. They give people one simple reason to enter, then reveal different products or stories as part of the journey.
It also gives the company more to work with after launch. The zones can generate different photos, creator moments and product stories, while the same “MOVE. PLAY. CHILL.” idea keeps the pieces recognizable as one campaign.
There is no public data yet on participation, merchandise sales or ice cream purchases, so the value here is still structural rather than proven performance.
Why Sentosa gives the idea room to travel
The campaign is the first instalment of a three-year partnership between TMICC and Sentosa Development Corporation.
That makes HIIT THE BEACH more than a one-off stunt.
Sentosa has already been using brand collaborations to make its beaches feel like spaces for wellness, entertainment and lifestyle activity, not just passive leisure. Marketing-Interactive noted that Shake Shack Singapore previously worked with Sentosa on a one-day summer wellness festival at Siloso Beach.
TMICC fits into the same broader destination logic, but with a longer runway.
A multi-year partnership gives both sides permission to build recurring formats instead of treating each event as a separate sponsorship. For the ice cream company, Sentosa becomes a physical stage where its brands can be experienced together. For Sentosa, consumer brands can help create reasons to revisit the island beyond its permanent attractions.
That is especially useful for experiential marketing because location can do part of the storytelling.
A beach already carries associations with movement, heat, leisure, groups of friends and cooling down. TMICC does not need to manufacture those behaviors. The campaign simply reorganizes them around its products.
What marketers should know about playful brand worlds
HIIT THE BEACH shows what happens when a brand experience starts with a human behavior people already understand, then exaggerates it just enough to become memorable.
- Use contrast as the idea, not just the headline. Ice cream and HIIT feel contradictory. The campaign works because that contradiction shapes the actual course, not just the campaign name.
- Give multiple brands one shared rule. Five TMICC brands can live inside the same experience because every zone follows the same movement-and-reward logic.
- Let the location carry meaning. Palawan Beach already signals leisure and activity, so the setting makes “MOVE. PLAY. CHILL.” feel natural rather than imposed.
- Design for more than one kind of participation. Visitors can complete physical challenges, relax, take photos, shop merchandise or simply get ice cream. The campaign does not require everyone to behave the same way.
- Build repeatability into the partnership. A three-year relationship gives TMICC and Sentosa room to turn one successful format into a longer series of destination experiences.
The wider cultural signal is that experiential marketing does not always need to feel like an exhibition people walk through.
Sometimes the stronger idea is something people can physically do together, especially when the activity makes the brand proposition obvious without a long explanation.
HIIT THE BEACH takes the familiar reward at the end of a hot day and builds the entire experience around earning it.
