A limited-edition Garfield collaboration gives Luckin Coffee’s Malaysian customers character-themed cups, cozy merchandise and seasonal drinks.
Garfield’s favorite activity is taking it easy, a habit that translates neatly into a coffee break. In Malaysia, that laid-back personality now appears on collectible cups and merchandise alongside a rotating menu of sweet drinks.
Luckin Coffee’s Garfield collaboration runs from October 15 through November 2026, combining special packaging, plush accessories and beverage launches. As detailed by Newswav, the Malaysian rollout has two phases, starting with ‘Just Chillin’ with Luckin!’ and continuing with ‘Cattitude ON’ in November. The concept uses the comic character’s familiar appetite for comfort as the creative thread.

Garfield takes over the coffee cup
The most visible part of the collaboration is the everyday coffee cup. Luckin has designed hot and iced packaging around Garfield, alongside three collectible cup sleeve designs. That gives the character a presence on a product customers carry beyond the counter, not only on an advertisement.
The drinks add another layer of design and seasonal flavor. A Crème Brûlée Latte arrives on October 15, followed by a Tiramisu Latte on October 30. The dessert-inspired menu reinforces the campaign’s relaxed, indulgent theme rather than treating the character as a detached decoration.
The campaign’s drink visuals show how the product presentation carries the collaboration into the beverage itself.

Soft collectibles extend the coffee break
The merchandise moves the idea of comfort into objects designed for use away from the café. The collection includes a two-in-one pillow blanket, plush pouches, magnetic monitor memo boards and magnetic collectibles. Each makes Garfield’s sleepy persona tangible through an item customers can keep.
Special cup sleeves and an insulated bag also extend the design system into packaging and takeaway. Customers ordering two cups through GrabFood can receive a Garfield insulated bag while stocks last, according to the Malaysian campaign coverage.
These are more than decorative character placements. The blanket and pouch turn the campaign into an everyday accessory, while the cup packaging brings the collaboration into a repeat purchase occasion.

Two launch phases sustain the collection
The first phase begins October 15, while the second, ‘Cattitude ON,’ starts November 13. Later drinks include a returning Toffee Hazelnut Latte and a Black Sesame Hojicha Latte, with release dates listed as November 13 and 27 respectively in the Malaysian coverage.
Luckin is also using a prize promotion to encourage participation. Customers buying eligible collaboration beverages through its app from October 15 to 22 are entered into a draw for prizes worth up to RM5,000 in total. The activation gives the product range a time-limited reason to be noticed.
The character tie-up is not confined to Malaysia. In Singapore, MARKETING-INTERACTIVE reports a separate Garfield campaign with a pillow blanket and plush pouch, but the beverage assortment and launch dates differ by market.
What marketers can learn from Garfield’s collectibles
The collaboration shows how a licensed character can supply a coherent product idea instead of functioning only as borrowed recognition. Garfield’s association with rest informs the blankets and pouches, while the cups and sleeves make the same theme visible during a routine coffee purchase.
For coffee chains, the commercial opportunity lies in connecting a familiar daily purchase with a limited-edition item worth keeping. Phased merchandise and beverage releases can create successive moments of interest without requiring an entirely new campaign identity. The published announcements describe the collection and promotion, but do not establish sales or engagement outcomes.
